Messy Christingle

We kicked off the Advent season with an extra special Messy Church event at the Community Centre with Messy Christingle. Opening up our doors during the afternoon of the 2nd December families from our community were able to share Advent activities including crafts, biscuit icing, a nativity photo shoot and of course, making a Christingle.

The Christingle

The parts of the Christingle remind us of specific things:

  • The orange – represents the world
  • The red ribbon – indicates the love and blood of Christ
  • The dried fruits and sweets – symbols of God’s creations
  • The lit candle – symbolises Jesus, the light of the world

Sharing the light of Christ

At the end of our afternoon Rev’d Philippa Mills led us in a special Christingle prayer as we all joined in a huge circle to light our Christingle candles, sharing in the love and light of Christ. We closed as the worship team led us all in the Christingle song before enjoying tea, cake and fellowship together.

If you are interested in joining us at our next Messy Church afternoon please check the calendar for our next dates.
